TLDR Callicarpa nudiflora extract speeds up wound healing in scalded rats.
The study investigated the wound healing effects of Callicarpa nudiflora extract (CNE) on scalded rats, involving 40 rats divided into five groups. The 20% CNE-treated group showed significant improvements in wound closure and healing, with almost complete healing by day 21, compared to the control group. Histopathological examination revealed a mildly hypertrophic epidermis and intact dermis in the CNE-treated group. The study suggested that CNE could be a promising alternative for wound treatment, with fewer side effects than traditional treatments like silver sulfadiazine, due to its ability to upregulate VEGF and downregulate TGF-β1 and Smad3, contributing to scar reduction.
