Yangxuebushen Decoction Prevents Cyclophosphamide-Induced Hair Loss by Inhibiting Hair Follicle Apoptosis

    The study on Yangxuebushen Decoction (YXBSD) in a mouse model of cyclophosphamide-induced alopecia found that YXBSD significantly promotes hair regrowth and improves hair follicle architecture by increasing the proportion of hair follicles in the growth phase from 15% to 30% and reducing hair follicle cell apoptosis from 30% to 20%. It also suppresses inflammatory mediators, decreases oxidative stress markers, and enhances antioxidant enzyme activity. These findings suggest that YXBSD effectively alleviates chemotherapy-induced alopecia by inhibiting hair follicle apoptosis and reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, highlighting its potential as an adjuvant treatment. However, the study notes limitations such as a small sample size and lack of dose-response assessment.
