TLDR Zinc carbonate nanoparticles are not irritating or absorbed by the skin.
A study involving 18 male Hyplus rabbits and 24 male white rats evaluated the local irritant and skin-resorptive effects of zinc carbonate nanoparticles stabilized by polyvinylpyrrolidone. The nanoparticles were tested at concentrations of 1.0, 2.0, and 4.0 g/dm³. In rabbits, no signs of irritation were observed upon dermal application or administration into the conjunctival vault. Similarly, in rats, no changes in body weight, leukocyte count, or leukocyte profile were noted, and no allergic effects were detected. The study concludes that these nanoparticles do not exhibit local irritant or skin-resorptive effects.
