May 2026 in “Medical and Veterinary Entomology” The study investigated the wound healing effects of combining Lucilia sericata larva secretions and Achillea sintenisii extract in a diabetic rat model. By Day 12, the combination treatment group (DM + DA) showed the highest wound contraction rate of 92.91%, significantly outperforming other groups. Histological evaluations confirmed superior tissue repair in the DM + DA group, with enhanced epithelialization, fibroblast density, collagen deposition, angiogenesis, and hair follicle regeneration. These findings suggest that the combined therapy offers a synergistic effect, potentially leading to effective and affordable natural products for chronic wound care in both veterinary and human medicine.
