    GlossaryHypoparathyroidism

condition where parathyroid glands produce insufficient parathyroid hormone

Hypoparathyroidism is a condition where the parathyroid glands produce insufficient amounts of parathyroid hormone (PTH). This hormone is crucial for regulating calcium and phosphorus levels in the blood. Low PTH levels can lead to hypocalcemia (low calcium levels) and hyperphosphatemia (high phosphate levels), causing symptoms like muscle cramps, tingling, and, in severe cases, cardiac issues.
