Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease that primarily affects the spine and sacroiliac joints, leading to pain and stiffness. Over time, the inflammation can cause some of the vertebrae in the spine to fuse, resulting in a loss of flexibility and a hunched-forward posture.
