Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye, is the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva, the transparent membrane that lines the eyelid and covers the white part of the eyeball. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses, allergens, or irritants, leading to symptoms such as redness, itching, and discharge from the eyes.
