Follicular casts are cylindrical, keratinous debris that encase the hair shaft and can be seen at the base of the hair. They are often associated with scalp conditions like seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, or certain types of alopecia, and can be an indicator of underlying inflammation or abnormal skin shedding.
