inflammation of nasal passages and throat, often called common cold
Nasopharyngitis, commonly known as the common cold, is an inflammation of the nasal passages and the pharynx (throat) typically caused by viral infections such as rhinoviruses. Symptoms often include a runny nose, sore throat, cough, and congestion, and while it is usually mild and self-limiting, it can be particularly troublesome for individuals with weakened immune systems.
