research Blue Honeysuckle (Lonicera Caerulea L.) Fruit Extract Promotes Hair Growth Via β-Catenin Signaling Pathway
The study investigates the effects of blue honeysuckle fruit aqueous extraction (BHAE) and its major component, cyanidin-3-O-glucoside (C3G), on hair growth. BHAE was shown to enhance the proliferation of human hair follicle dermal papilla cells and activate the β-catenin signaling pathway. In C57BL/6 mice, oral administration of BHAE accelerated the transition from the telogen to anagen phase, increasing hair follicle size and number. Molecular analysis revealed that β-catenin activation upregulated growth factors and cyclins. C3G replicated these effects, suggesting that BHAE, rich in C3G, promotes hair growth by activating β-catenin signaling, highlighting its potential as a functional food or cosmeceutical for hair regeneration.
