    Metronidazole, commonly known by the brand name Flagyl, is an antibiotic and antiprotozoal medication used to treat a variety of infections caused by bacteria and parasites. It is effective against anaerobic bacteria and certain parasites, making it useful for conditions such as bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, and certain types of gastrointestinal infections.
