The study investigated the wound-healing potential of a 70% ethanol extract of Grateloupia angusta (GAE) using in vitro and in vivo models. GAE was found to enhance viability, migration, tube formation, and VEGF expression in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), and increase VEGF production in Raw264.7 cells. In human dermal fibroblasts (HDFs), GAE increased collagen production without affecting proliferation and migration. In a mouse model, GAE accelerated wound closure and improved granulation and matrix formation, as well as restored keratin 14 expression, indicating enhanced epidermal re-epithelialization. These findings suggest that G. angusta is a promising candidate for wound-healing applications, warranting further research.
