May 2026 in “Scientific Reports” This randomized clinical trial evaluated the effects of apple cider vinegar (ACV) as an adjunct to metformin treatment in 94 women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), metabolic syndrome (MetS), and insulin resistance (IR). Over 12 weeks, participants received either ACV capsules or a placebo. The study found that the resolution of MetS was significantly higher in the ACV group (74.5%) compared to the placebo group (40.4%). Additionally, the ACV group showed significant reductions in IR, hirsutism, and improvements in sexual function and quality of life. These findings suggest that ACV supplementation could be a beneficial strategy for enhancing metabolic and quality-of-life outcomes in women with PCOS, MetS, and IR.
