May 2026 in “Aesthetic Plastic Surgery” This systematic review and meta-analysis assessed the efficacy of growth factor injections for androgenetic alopecia by reviewing 12 studies with 745 patients. It found that growth factor concentrates (GFC) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections improved hair density and thickness over 12 months, with GFC increasing hair density from 19.6 hairs/cm² at 1 month to 57.1 at 12 months, and PRP increasing density by 34.4 at 6 months and 42.0 at 12 months. Patient satisfaction was high at 94.3%, and adverse events were mild. However, the studies had a high risk of bias and substantial heterogeneity, suggesting the need for larger, standardized, double-blind trials with long-term follow-up to confirm efficacy.
