Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PEMOS), also known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), is a common disorder affecting women's reproductive health, characterized by symptoms such as hyperandrogenism and insulin resistance. Current treatments have limitations, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Parquetina nigrescens, a medicinal plant from West Africa, shows promise in managing PEMOS due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and reproductive-modulating properties. This review suggests that P. nigrescens could improve ovarian function, reduce oxidative stress, and enhance insulin sensitivity, making it a potential complementary therapy for PEMOS. The review emphasizes the need for further research into its safety and efficacy.
