While they did not prevent cysteine oxidation during dyeing, they significantly reduced cysteine oxidation by about 50% during solar exposure. The study concludes that incorporating ferulic acid or resveratrol in cosmetic formulations effectively protects hair from oxidative damage caused by chemical processes and sun exposure.
