    GlossaryVaginal Dryness

reduced lubrication in vaginal tissues causing discomfort and pain

Vaginal dryness refers to a condition where the vaginal tissues are not adequately lubricated, often leading to discomfort, itching, and pain during intercourse. This can be caused by hormonal changes, particularly a decrease in estrogen levels during menopause, but can also result from certain medications, stress, or underlying health conditions. It is sometimes referred to as vaginal atrophy or atrophic vaginitis when it involves thinning and inflammation of the vaginal walls.
