0728 Exploring the landscape of hair and scalp disorders in the pediatric skin of color population: A scoping review

This scoping review examines pediatric hair and scalp disorders in skin of color (SOC) populations, analyzing 191 studies. It finds that 42% of these studies included SOC populations, while 57% did not specify demographics. The most common disorders identified were alopecia areata (27.7%), tinea capitis (14.7%), and mechanical alopecia (9.4%). The review highlights the need for further research to better understand these disorders in SOC children, optimize treatment adherence based on hair texture and styling practices, and explore demographic and socioeconomic factors affecting disease severity and treatment response.
