TLDR Clascoterone cream is a safer, effective acne treatment with fewer side effects.
Acne vulgaris affects up to 90% of people, with increasing cases in those over 25. Traditional treatments like isotretinoin and antibiotics have significant side effects and limitations. Clascoterone, a new topical antiandrogen cream, blocks androgen receptors, reducing sebaceous gland activity and inflammation with fewer systemic side effects. It is effective for both acne and androgen-related alopecia, approved for patients aged 12 and older, and poses a low risk of feminization and gynecomastia in males. However, caution is advised during pregnancy. Clascoterone represents a significant advancement in acne treatment, offering efficacy and safety with minimal side effects.
