TLDR Allogenic ASCs and ECM transplants are safe and effective for tissue regeneration.
The systematic review from 2020 evaluated the allogenic use of stromal vascular fraction (SVF) and decellularized extracellular matrices (ECM) in tissue regeneration, focusing on adipose stem cells (ASCs). Out of 341 studies, 29 met the inclusion criteria, with 19 included in a meta-analysis. The review found that allogenic ASCs and ECM transplants were generally safe and effective, with no major side effects reported. However, it noted a lack of standardized protocols for decellularization and recellularization, complicating result interpretation. The review emphasized the need for well-conducted randomized controlled trials to further assess the safety and efficacy of these therapies and highlighted the importance of adhering to regulatory guidelines.
