TLDR A patient regrew hair after a lung transplant using standard post-transplant medication.
A case was reported where a patient with Alopecia Universalis (AU), a severe form of hair loss, experienced complete hair recovery within three months following a bilateral lung transplant. This recovery was achieved using standard triple immunosuppressive therapy, which is typically administered post-transplant. AU, which affects 15-25% of those with Alopecia Areata, rarely sees complete recovery, with less than 10% of cases achieving this. This was the first known instance of AU recovery linked to standard immunosuppression after lung transplantation.
