TLDR A combination of cyclosporine and oral corticosteroid successfully regrew hair in a 19-year-old with alopecia universalis.
A 19-year-old male with alopecia universalis, characterized by complete hair loss and a SALT score of 100%, was treated with a combination of oral methylprednisolone and cyclosporine. Over 51 days, the patient showed significant improvement, with terminal hair growth on the head, eyelashes, and eyebrows, and a SALT score reduction to 40%. Despite experiencing acneiform eruptions, which were managed with topical sulfur lotion, the treatment demonstrated a good therapeutic response, highlighting the potential effectiveness of this combination therapy for alopecia universalis.
