TLDR Anemia increases the risk of hair loss in post-COVID-19 survivors.
The study investigates the relationship between anemia and telogen effluvium (TE) in 672 post-COVID-19 survivors. It found that TE was more prevalent in individuals with anemia (47.3%) compared to those without anemia (35.5%). TE was also more common in women, younger individuals, and those with a BMI under 25. The severity of the initial COVID-19 infection did not correlate with the occurrence of TE, suggesting other factors may contribute to hair loss in these patients.
