TLDR Angelica sinensis and Ligusticum sinense essential oils promote hair growth safely.
The study found that essential oils from Angelica sinensis and Ligusticum sinense ‘Chuanxiong’ effectively promote hair growth in a DHT-induced alopecia model in mice, outperforming 3% minoxidil. The oils increased hair follicle numbers and dermal thickness, and enhanced hair growth-promoting factors in cell models, without causing acute toxicity. These findings suggest that these essential oils could be safe and effective for treating hair loss, with potential applications in aromatherapy and cosmetics. Future clinical evaluations are planned to further assess their efficacy.
