Assessing Alopecia Areata Management in Poland: Challenges in Medical Practices and Patient Care

The study on alopecia areata management in Poland, involving 100 dermatologists and 252 patients, reveals inadequate patient care due to non-adherence to diagnostic and treatment guidelines. Despite the availability of advanced treatments like Janus kinase inhibitors, access has been limited, though the recent reimbursement of ritlecitinib marks progress. The study highlights the need for interdisciplinary strategies, including psychological support and public education, to improve the quality of life for AA patients. It also emphasizes the importance of better diagnostic practices and comprehensive care approaches, as well as the significant psychological and social burdens on patients, with 32% experiencing very severe impairment.
