TLDR Low calcium levels and dietary issues are linked to hair loss, suggesting a combined Ayurvedic and nutritional approach for prevention.
This study investigates the correlation between Ayurvedic etiological factors (Hetus) and biochemical parameters in individuals with Khalitya (hair loss). Conducted with 40 participants, the research integrates classical Ayurvedic concepts with modern biochemical analysis, focusing on serum calcium and phosphorus levels. The study found that 55% of participants had below-reference serum calcium levels, while phosphorus levels were normal. Frequent Ayurvedic hetus identified included Viruddha Ahara, Lavana Rasa Atisevana, and Kshara Atisevana. The findings suggest a connection between Asthi Dhatu and hair physiology, highlighting dietary incompatibilities and calcium insufficiency as significant factors in hair loss. The study advocates for an integrative approach to prevention, combining dietary corrections and scalp health practices, and recommends further research with expanded biochemical profiling and larger participant cohorts.
