TLDR Bioprinting is improving skin models for better testing of skin diseases without using animals.
Advancements in bioprinting technologies are enhancing the development of engineered skin tissue models that accurately replicate chronic, non-communicable inflammatory skin diseases. These models aim to reduce reliance on animal testing by providing in vitro alternatives that closely mimic human skin conditions, aligning with the 3Rs framework and legislative efforts. The improved reproducibility, quality, and scalability of bioprinted models hold promise for testing new therapeutic and cosmetic products, particularly in the research of immune-mediated skin diseases.
