TLDR Botulinum toxin A may help regrow hair in pattern baldness.
This review examines the potential of Botulinum toxin type A (BTA) as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), a condition causing patterned hair loss. Traditional treatments like finasteride and minoxidil have inconsistent results and side effects. BTA, known for cosmetic use, may improve AGA by enhancing scalp blood flow and reducing tension. The review analyzed six relevant studies, all indicating that BTA, alone or with finasteride and minoxidil, increased hair growth, improved hair density, and had a favorable safety profile. Although BTA's use in AGA is still being explored, current evidence suggests it may promote hair regrowth, warranting further research.
