TLDR Cannabinoids may help some skin conditions but more research is needed.
This systematic review evaluated the efficacy of cannabinoid products in treating hair, scalp, and skin disorders by analyzing 18 original articles involving 1,090 patients. The review found moderate-quality evidence supporting the efficacy of cannabinoids in managing atopic dermatitis, dermatomyositis, psoriasis, and systemic sclerosis, but moderate-quality evidence indicated a lack of efficacy for trichotillomania. There was low to very low quality evidence for the efficacy of cannabinoids in treating alopecia areata, epidermolysis bullosa, hyperhidrosis, seborrheic dermatitis, and pruritus. The findings suggest potential benefits of cannabinoids for certain inflammatory dermatologic conditions, but highlight the need for large randomized controlled trials and standardized treatment regimens to better understand their safety and efficacy.

Cannabis and THC may have mixed effects on hair, with some studies suggesting potential negative impacts on hair growth in isolated hair follicles, but these results are hard to apply to living humans. Treatments like minoxidil and finasteride are commonly used for hair loss, and the effects of cannabis might be neutral or vary based on individual factors.
