TLDR Hemp shows promise for skincare and hair care due to its therapeutic properties, but standardization and clinical evidence are needed.
Hemp, rich in essential fatty acids, cannabinoids, CBD, flavonoids, terpenoids, and antioxidants, offers therapeutic properties beneficial for cosmeceuticals and personal care, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, sebo-regulatory, and photoprotective effects. This review highlights hemp's potential in treating acne, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, alopecia, and oxidative skin damage, emphasizing the enhanced bioavailability and skin penetration achieved through formulations like emulsions and nanoparticles. Despite its promise, challenges remain in standardizing cannabinoid content, administration methods, and clinical evidence, positioning hemp-based products as central to personalized skincare and trichology.
