TLDR Magnetized saline water may reduce chronic itching in elderly people.
This case series explored the use of a topical serum containing magnetized saline water to alleviate chronic pruritus in elderly patients, aged 69-80, with various underlying conditions. Five patients applied the serum daily for at least 14 days, resulting in a significant reduction in pruritus severity, as measured by a decrease of 3-5 points on the 12-Item Pruritus Severity Scale. The treatment was well-tolerated with no adverse effects reported. These results suggest that magnetized saline water could be a promising alternative or adjunctive therapy for chronic pruritus in the elderly, though further clinical trials are necessary to confirm efficacy and determine optimal treatment protocols.
