Coreopsis Tinctoria Nutt. As a New Raw Material for Natural Hair Coloration: Discovering the Dyeing Potential of Chalcones

The study investigates Coreopsis tinctoria Nutt. as a natural hair dye, emphasizing its flavonoid content, particularly chalcones like okanin, which show strong dyeing capabilities. The plant extract alone produces yellow hues, while combining it with ferrous lactate results in dark brown colors. The dye demonstrates good wash fastness, maintaining color stability over 24 washes.
