TLDR Plant-based pigments in shampoo offer vibrant colors and scalp benefits, meeting quality standards and providing a natural alternative to synthetic dyes.
This research focuses on developing a shampoo using plant-based pigments from Neem leaves, Fenugreek seeds, Hibiscus flowers, and Butterfly Pea flowers, which provide vibrant colors and scalp benefits like promoting hair growth and reducing dandruff. Two shampoo formulations, transparent and opaque, were created and met BIS standards, showing no phase separation or color degradation after stability testing. The shampoos were free from microbial contamination, and FTIR analysis confirmed the presence of bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and anthocyanins, contributing to antioxidant, antimicrobial, conditioning, and foaming properties, making them a promising natural alternative to synthetic dyes.
