TLDR Autologous epidermal cell suspensions speed up healing and reduce complications in skin lesion treatment but have limited impact on cosmetic outcomes.
This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy and safety of autologous epidermal cell suspensions (ASCS) for re-epithelialization of skin lesions. The analysis found that ASCS significantly reduced healing time, size of the donor site for treatment, operation time, pain scores, and complications, while also increasing the effective rate. However, ASCS had minimal impact on the size of the treatment area, repigmentation, scar scale scores, and satisfaction scores. These findings suggest that ASCS is beneficial for certain aspects of skin lesion treatment, although its effects on cosmetic outcomes and patient satisfaction are limited.
