TLDR YouTube videos on exosome therapy often lack reliable, educational content, especially those not made by healthcare professionals.
The study evaluated 50 YouTube videos on exosome therapy, finding that their educational value and reliability were generally low to moderate, with median scores of 2.67 for Modified DISCERN and GQS, and 2.00 for JAMA. Videos by healthcare professionals scored higher in reliability and educational quality than those by patients or companies, with physician-produced videos achieving a median score of 3.33. The study highlighted a misalignment between scientific research and online content, as videos often emphasized cosmetic claims over significant wound healing applications. This underscores the need for expert-driven, evidence-based content to prevent misinformation and unrealistic patient expectations.
