TLDR Combining conventional and integrative treatments can help reduce hair loss and improve hair growth in women with androgenic alopecia.
Alopecia androgênica feminina (AAF) is a prevalent condition in women, particularly after age 40, characterized by hair loss influenced by hormonal, genetic, and environmental factors. The conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) plays a crucial role in hair follicle miniaturization. Effective management of AAF involves a combination of conventional treatments, such as minoxidil and antiandrogens, and integrative approaches like phytotherapy and acupuncture. These combined therapies have shown promise in reducing hair loss and promoting hair growth, although more robust evidence is needed for integrative treatments. Personalized treatment plans are essential for improving hair density and quality of life in women with AAF.
