TLDR FFA has higher long-term remission rates than LPP.
This study on frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA) and lichen planopilaris (LPP) conducted at Holy Family Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan, analyzed data from 2014 to 2024. It found that LPP patients were generally older at onset than FFA patients, with significant differences in symptom presentation and affected areas. Scalp involvement was more common in LPP, while FFA more frequently affected the body. FFA patients experienced more symptoms, whereas LPP was often asymptomatic. Although both conditions had similar one-year remission rates, FFA showed higher long-term remission and sustained remission rates compared to LPP. The study highlighted differences in demographics, clinical features, and treatment outcomes between the two conditions.
