TLDR Finasteride increases P-glycoprotein activity in the liver and kidney.
The study investigated the effect of finasteride on the functional activity of the efflux transporter protein P-glycoprotein (Pgp) in rabbits. By analyzing the pharmacokinetics of the marker substrate fexofenadine, it was determined that a 14-day course of finasteride administration resulted in a tissue-specific increase in Pgp functional activity in the liver and kidney.
