Clinical, Histological, and Immunophenotypic Findings in a Mare with Mammary Lymphoma Associated with Anemia and Pruritus

TLDR A mare had severe symptoms and died from a large lymphoma.
An 18-year-old Quarter Horse mare exhibited dermatological lesions, recurrent urticaria, enlarged mammary glands, pyrexia, alopecia, and intense pruritus over 18 weeks. Haematological and serum biochemical analyses indicated anaemia, leucocytosis, thrombocytopenia, and hyperfibrinogenaemia. Initial diagnosis of mastitis was made, but the mare's condition worsened, showing intermittent fever, intense pruritus, and generalized alopecia. Further examinations revealed a large irregular mass near the left kidney. The mare died before laboratory results were available. The case detailed clinical, histological, and immunophenotypic findings of a large lymphoma.
