TLDR The serum with microneedling effectively treats alopecia areata by enhancing drug delivery and is safe and patient-friendly.
This study focuses on developing a triamcinolone acetonide serum combined with a derma stamp microneedling device to treat alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition causing hair loss. Traditional treatments face challenges like pain and low adherence. The new serum, created using a co-solvency method, features optimal solubility and a lightweight texture, with a skin-compatible pH and appropriate viscosity. Safety and drug compatibility were confirmed through various tests, and the derma stamp aids in delivering the drug effectively by creating microchannels to bypass the skin barrier. This approach promises a less invasive, targeted, and patient-friendly treatment for alopecia areata.
