TLDR The USA, China, Italy, and Türkiye lead in diverse PRP research, focusing on healing and pain management.
This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of 5741 articles on Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) published between 1980 and 2024, using machine learning techniques. The analysis revealed that the USA, China, Italy, and Türkiye are leading contributors to PRP research. The articles were published in 1432 journals and received a total of 141229 citations, averaging 24.60 citations per article. The primary research areas for PRP include orthopedics, surgery, and dentistry, with recent focus on orthodontic tooth movement, low-level laser therapy, and exosomes. PRP is widely used for tissue and wound healing, pain management, and cartilage repair. The study identified eight clusters of research topics, highlighting the diverse applications and ongoing developments in PRP therapy.
