TLDR HIVEN Curl Code® may improve curly hair by reducing frizz and maintaining moisture.
The study reviews the HIVEN Curl Code® technology, which aims to address the unique challenges of curly hair, such as water loss, frizz, and curl instability, by using a combination of biofunctional ingredients. These include cationic conditioning agents, fatty alcohols, humectants, plant lipids, antioxidants, and film-forming components like cetrimonium chloride, D-panthenol, glycerin, coconut oil, shea butter, acacia gum, and carnauba wax. These ingredients are suggested to reduce friction, maintain moisture, and stabilize hair curvature, thus improving curl definition and cosmetic performance. While the study supports the potential of these systems, it calls for further experimental research to validate the proposed mechanisms and effectiveness.
