Formulation and Evaluation of Jackfruit Seed Shampoo for Anti-Dandruff Activity

The study focused on formulating and evaluating an herbal anti-dandruff shampoo using jackfruit seed extract, known for its bioactive compounds like phenolics and flavonoids, which help control fungal growth and promote healthy hair. The shampoo incorporated herbal excipients such as reetha, shikakai, aloe vera, and henna, with preservatives like sodium benzoate. Various formulations were tested for pH, viscosity, foam stability, and antifungal activity against Malassezia furfur. The fourth formulation demonstrated superior antifungal activity and stability. The results suggest that jackfruit seed extract can be effectively used in creating a natural, safe, and effective herbal anti-dandruff shampoo, offering a viable alternative to synthetic products.
