TLDR Kabīkaj has potential medicinal benefits for skin conditions but is less used now due to availability issues.
Kabīkaj (Ranunculus sceleratus L.), a member of the Ranunculaceae family, has been historically recognized for its medicinal properties in Unani medicine, as noted by scholars like Dioscorides and Avicenna. It has been used to treat conditions such as boils, scabies, alopecia areata, psoriasis, and leukoderma. However, its use has declined due to challenges in availability and identification. This review compiles extensive Unani literature on the plant's characteristics, uses, and effects, as well as its phytochemical and pharmacological properties, aiming to revive interest and understanding of its potential benefits.
