TLDR Hair structure forms the same way inside and outside the body.
The study utilized synchrotron X-ray micro-diffraction to examine the keratinization process in human hair follicles. It was found that the molecular organization of keratin, specifically the formation of alpha-helices, was completed within the follicle, while the supramolecular organization and filament structure appeared outside the follicle. The research indicated no structural differences between in vitro and in vivo grown hair, as both exhibited the same structure, and no variations were observed in the transition zone between in vivo and in vitro conditions.
