TLDR Loose anagen hair syndrome in children often resolves on its own.
Loose anagen hair syndrome (LAHS) is a rare, inherited condition characterized by nonscarring alopecia and easily extractable anagen hairs. This report discusses a case of LAHS in a 3-year-old Indian girl, marking one of the few documented instances in the Indian population. The child presented with progressive hair loss, and trichoscopic examination revealed features consistent with LAHS, such as multiple loose anagen hairs and a positive hair pull test. The condition is self-limiting and often resolves spontaneously, though minoxidil may be used in severe cases. The study highlights the genetic basis of LAHS, involving mutations affecting keratin, and differentiates it from other forms of alopecia.
