TLDR Platelet-rich plasma, microneedling with minoxidil, and topical finasteride are promising treatments for hair loss.
This narrative review assesses six minimally invasive non-surgical therapies for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), analyzing 47 studies, including 18 randomized controlled trials. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and topical finasteride emerge as promising treatments, with PRP supported by multiple RCTs and topical finasteride showing non-inferiority to oral finasteride with reduced systemic absorption. Microneedling combined with topical minoxidil shows superior results compared to monotherapy. Intradermal dutasteride demonstrates potential but requires more extensive studies. Mesotherapy and PN/PDRN injections show positive trends but need further research due to small sample sizes and protocol variability. The review emphasizes the need for standardized protocols and larger controlled trials to establish definitive clinical guidelines.
