TLDR Minoxidil dissolves best in shea butter, stearic acid, and rosemary oil, which may improve hair growth treatments.
The study examines the solubility of minoxidil in various natural oils to improve its delivery via nanostructured lipid carriers for hair growth treatments. Using both experimental and computational methods, it identifies stearic acid and rosemary oil as optimal lipids for dissolving minoxidil, based on Hansen solubility parameters and Relative Energy Difference values. These findings suggest that these natural oils can enhance minoxidil concentration at hair follicles, offering a synergistic effect for hair growth applications. The research highlights the potential of combining natural oils with conventional medicines to improve therapeutic efficacy, while also emphasizing the importance of experimental confirmation for accurate solubility assessments.
