TLDR The minoxidil gel could be a better treatment for hair loss than traditional forms.
The study formulated a minoxidil-loaded submicron emulsion-based topical gel for alopecia treatment. The emulsion was prepared using Clove oil, Tween 20, and Transcutol P, with the optimized formulation (M5) showing a pH of 5.4, in vitro release of 95.08%, ex vivo permeation of 79.36%, and a particle size of 181.3nm. The M5 formulation was then converted into a gel using Carbopol 934. The gel showed anti-oxidant potential and remained stable for three months. The study concluded that this minoxidil-loaded submicron emulsion-based topical gel could be a beneficial nano-approach for treating alopecia compared to traditional topical dosage forms.
