TLDR A systems biology approach helps improve mesenchymal stromal cell therapies by mapping interactions and identifying treatment targets.
This study develops a molecular systems architecture of the mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) microenvironment to better understand the complex interactions between MSCs and other microenvironmental cells. By organizing these biomolecular interactions, the study provides a visual mapping of MSC interactions, identifies complex crosstalk, and reveals potential therapeutic targets. This framework aims to facilitate the development of combination therapeutics, improve clinical strategies, and avoid adverse effects through predictive, quantitative computational models. The study emphasizes that a systems biology approach is essential for advancing MSCs as a viable therapeutic option.
